Legacy Community Health Services
Legacy Community Health Services is a full-service, Community Health Center that provides comprehensive, primary healthcare services to all Houstonians in a culturally sensitive, judgment-free and confidential environment. Legacy has specialized in HIV/AIDS testing, education, treatment and social services since the early 1980s.We also provide care for other chronic health conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure. Generous financial support from individuals, businesses and charitable foundations allows Legacy to provide no-cost or low-cost healthcare services to nearly 40,000 men, women and children each year.

About the Center
The Center is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization located at the Historic Dow School (Silver Street entrance) in the Old Sixth Ward Historic District. The address is 1900 Kane Street, Houston, Texas 77007 and we can be reached at 713-524-3814. The board of directors and other volunteers are focused on serving the community in new and innovative ways as the organization prepares for its fifteenth anniversary year in 2011.

Gay & Lesbian Switchboard Houston

The “Switchboard” is a 24-hour help line created in 1982 for members of Houston’s GLBT community.  Whether you are in crisis or simply need information, our volunteers are answering the call, with no “hang-ups.”

Our new GLBT Resource Directory provides listings for many of the Houston area’s GLBT-dedicated and -affirming organizations and service providers, and not-for-profits may list free-of-charge.

HATCH

HATCH is dedicated to empowering Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning (GLBTQ) adolescents, ages 13-20, to become responsible citizens and positive contributors to society by:

Providing a safe, affirming social environment for GLBTQ youth.
Offering role models and peer support.
Providing education on health issues such as HIV, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI's) drug and alcohol abuse and suicide prevention.

To host a variety of helpful and affirming programs for GLBTQ youth.

Sponsoring educational and community outreach opportunities on issues and problems affecting GLBTQ youth for school counselors, teachers, administrators, mental health and medical professionals, social service, and law enforcement organizations.
